A domain name is registered for a period from one up to five years since the date of the registration and can be renewed not earlier than 180 days before the expiry date. As with all transactions, renewal can also be done only by a registrar. Your chosen registrar has to renew the domain name before it expires through the domain name registration system after which he is charged the assigned tariff by Arnes. If the server at Arnes does not receive the renewal request and the registrar doesn't pay the renewal fee, the domain name goes into "pending quarantine" status and is deleted from the domain name database after 30 days.
